Chaga / Birch mushroom (lat. Inonotus obliquus) – a longevity tonic used for thousands of years by people living in the north. Known for its full spectrum of immune-stimulating phytochemicals, plant sterols, saponins, polysaccharides, triterpenes, beta-glucan and trace elements. However, the most powerful substance in chaga is superoxide dismutase (SOD). Superoxide dismutase is the strongest antioxidant on this planet, responsible for neutralizing superoxide, which is the most harmful free radical in the human body. The colder the climate, the higher the antioxidant activity. Chaga from Siberia and Northern Canada has the highest antioxidant activity, i.e. 30,000 – 35,000 SOD/g; European chaga has 12,000 – 16,000 SOD/g; and artificially complex chaga from China has only 5,000 – 8,000 SOD/g (Brunswick Laboratory, USA). Also, chaga contains large amounts of betulinic acid, which has anticancer effects. This substance, being cytotoxic, causes a direct effect on the mitochondria of cancer cells, causing apoptosis. The organic carbon content filters, detoxifies and purifies the blood, activates the pineal gland and protects DNA. A great substitute for coffee and black tea. For those who want to fully absorb the organic compounds of group D, consume chaga while sunbathing.
