Reishi mushroom (lat. Ganoderma lucidum) – one of the most studied mushrooms in the world. Over four decades of scientific research (mostly in Japan) have shown that Reishi is an incredible source of bioactive nutrients. The main components responsible for Reishi’s wide range of health benefits are polysaccharides and triterpenes.
Polysaccharides are complex long-chain sugar molecules (healthy sugars) that have been shown to greatly strengthen and activate the immune system. These complex natural sugars are some of the most powerful immune forces ever discovered. Reishi contains over 200 different polysaccharide compounds. Polysaccharides essentially lock onto specific receptor sites in the immune system, activating their healing power and working to enhance the immune response, making it one of the best tonics for supporting and strengthening the immune system.
Reishi contains some of the most prominent and biologically highly active triterpene compounds. Various oil-soluble compounds, ganoderic and lucidic acids from Reishi mushroom are responsible for many of its medicinal properties. Studies have shown that Reishi triterpenes may exhibit anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antihistamine, antioxidant, hypotensive and sedative effects.
Studies have shown that Reishi contains over 400 different compounds, including polysaccharides, triterpenoids, nucleotides, sterols, steroids, fatty acids, proteins and peptides, mannitol and trace elements. This vast array of constituents has been shown to possess a variety of pharmacological effects, including immunomodulatory, anti-atherosclerotic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, chemoprophylactic, anticancer, chemotherapeutic and radioprotective, sleep-promoting, antibacterial, antiviral, hypolipidemic, antifibrotic, hepatoprotective, antidiabetic, antiandrogenic, antiangiogenic, antiherpetic, antioxidant and radical scavenging, anti-aging, hypoglycemic, estrogenic activity, and anticancer effects.
Reishi helps to strengthen the body’s defense system, maintain optimal balance in the body, to prevent any serious illness or threat of illness. Reishi is an excellent plant for fighting the flu. It can also be used to reduce the likelihood of transmitting a cold from yourself, a loved one, or someone else. It effectively balances the immune system, regardless of whether it is weakened (susceptible to colds, flu, viruses, etc.) or too strong (autoimmunity).
In summary, Reishi mushroom is the best adaptogen, provides energy, calms the central nervous system, improves sleep quality, reduces stress, anxiety and depression, replenishes with antioxidants, prevents inflammation, relieves allergies, protects neurons, supports healthy brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and intestines, improves skin condition, protects cells from electromagnetic radiation.
